We want to welcome you, the newcomer and the former OA member who is returning to the fellowship. You are why we are here.

Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive eating using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. Worldwide meetings and other tools provide a fellowship of experience, strength and hope where members respect one another’s anonymity. OA charges no dues or fees; it is self-supporting through member contributions. Information is linked on our menus "Is OA for you?" and "Fellowship Support." You may also find additional newcomer information at the World Services homepage.

Unlike other organizations, OA is not just about weight loss, gain or maintenance; or obesity or diets. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet. If you want to stop your compulsive eating, welcome to Overeaters Anonymous.

You are welcome to go to any of the meetings in the area. However, our newcomer meetings are designed to provide a particularly safe haven where you may learn about the basics of OA, the twelve step program, and how you may find a home in our fellowship. We are blessed with several newcomer meetings within San Diego county. These newcomer meetings are identified on the meeting directory, and are generally held 30 minutes prior to the regularly scheduled meeting.
